National News: The ongoing tension in India-US relations is now on the verge of ending. Trade talks between the two countries have reached a positive turn and there are indications that the US may soon make a major cut in the 50% tariff imposed on India. This move will not only strengthen trade relations but will also have a positive impact on global economic equations. On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump made it clear through their respective statements that both countries are committed to taking the relationship to new heights. This is the second time in a week that both leaders have openly given positive messages.

Modi said, 'Unlimited possibilities of India-US partnership'

Prime Minister Modi said in his message on the social media platform 'X,' "India and America are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade talks will open the doors to unlimited possibilities between the two countries. Our teams are working to finalize the discussions as soon as possible. Together we will ensure a bright and prosperous future for our citizens." He also added that he is looking forward to meeting President Trump soon.

President Trump's confidence: Trade barriers will be removed

US President Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, "I am happy that talks are going on between India and America to remove trade barriers. I am looking forward to talking to my friend Prime Minister Modi soon. I am confident that this dialogue between the two great countries will be completed successfully and our relationship will be strengthened further."

From tension to cooperation

In the last few months, relations between India and America had soured. There were two major reasons behind this:

  • 50% tariff dispute—America had imposed a heavy import duty on Indian products.
  • Oil import from Russia—US disagreement over India buying crude oil from Russia.

The situation became more serious when Trump said that "we have lost India and Russia to China." Apart from this, the continuous anti-India statements of his advisor Peter Navarro had created a stir in diplomatic circles.

However, India refrained from reacting strongly to these statements. Officials believed that this rhetoric is only a strategy to build pressure in the talks and will not have any effect on the actual talks.

Big announcements expected in the next two weeks

According to sources, many big decisions can be taken in the coming two weeks, including:

  • End of 25% additional duty imposed on oil imports from Russia
  • Trade deal to be signed by November

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal had recently expressed confidence that this agreement could be reached between the two countries by November, which will provide relief and new opportunity to the industry.

Way expected to be cleared for Quad summit

If the talks are successful, then preparations for the quad summit to be held in India will also intensify. Sources say that President Trump may visit India to attend this conference. This positive initiative between India and America is important not only for the two countries but also for the entire Asia-Pacific region. Tariff cuts and trade agreements will not only strengthen economic relations but will also give a new direction to strategic cooperation. If everything happens according to the plan, the Indo-US partnership can enter a new golden era in the coming months, which will give direct benefits to the citizens of both countries and will bring new energy to the global trading scenario.
